My name is Willie Evans and I’m the 41st Polemarch of this most notable and prestigious chapter of Kappa Alpha Psi Fraternity, Inc.
Our motto is “Flagship of the Fleet” and we are dedicated and committed to staying on the course of Achievement in all that we do.
We are a very accomplished chapter and a product of 4 Past Grand Polemarchs, 8 Laurel Wreath recipients, 11 Elder Watson Diggs Awardees, 1 Guy Levis Grant Awardee, 5 Eastern Province Polemarchs, Host of 5 Grand Chapter Meetings, Large Chapter of the Year Recipient, Guide Right Award Recipient, National Advisor of the Year Recipient.
We have a very active Guide Right program that has partnered with Roosevelt Sr. High School during the 2009 school year. Our scholarship program is second to none as we found it wise in 1984 to establish it as a separate entity in our creation of the Kappa Scholarship Endowment Fund (KSEF), a 501(c)(3) non-profit organization that has awarded approximately $900 thousand in scholarships to “close to” 500 Washington, DC graduating high school students.
We are active in all levels of the community as well as an active participant in Washington, DC political and social environment. We actively participate in Voter Registration Drives, we are a member of DC Vote with a chapter representative serving on DC Vote’s Board of Directors, and we are a member of the Black Organization Collective in Washington, DC made up of other social, community and political organizations that exist in the Washington, DC Metropolitan area.
We have oversight of four Collegiate Kappa Chapters: Xi - Howard University; Beta Kappa - University of the District of Columbia; Kappa Chi (City-Wide Chapter) - American University, Catholic University, Georgetown and George Washington; and Theta Tau - Howard Professional Schools.
Our Vision during this 2009 - 2010 membership year is our “Continuing on the Course of Excellence in that We Do.” We will continue to be an inspiration by answering the Call to Service for the best is still yet to come!
During these days and times….It’s Good to Be a Kappa!
God Bless,
Willie E. Evans
