KAPPA SCHOLARSHIP ENDOWMENT FUND, INC.

Mission:
The Kappa Scholarship Endowment Fund, Inc. (KSEF) seeks to address
its educational commitment to the Washington, DC community by:

promising students who are seeking a quality college education;
- Assisting youth in achieving the skills and knowledge required to compete
in a rapidly changing technological world and;
- Enhancing the quality of life in the community through the development
of future leaders.
Background:
The Kappa Scholarship Endowment Fund, Inc. (KSEF) was established
in 1984 as the scholarship arm of the Washington Alumni Chapter
of the Kappa Alpha Psi Fraternity, Inc. By 2002, KSEF has awarded
$296,000 to 213 deserving DC Public High School graduates. The
scholarship awards are made from the proceeds of its' investments
of the corpus of $1,000,000+ which has been accumulated over
the 17 years of existence. KSEF has a number of fund raising
endeavors resulting in this accomplishment. Among them are: 1)
the annual Celebrity Auction and Soul Food Feast; 2) the Named
Endowed Scholarship Program (NESP) for which benefactors have
contributed $5,000 or more to have scholarships awarded in the
benefactors name; and 3) an annual solicitation effort. KSEF
is a member of the United Way Campaign of the National Capitol Area
and the DC One Fund. There are approximately 60 NESP participants,
including two corporations: American Management Systems, Inc. and Anheuser-Busch
Companies.
